The first persuasive essay is about a political issue
Should drone strikes still be used?
Drone strikes started to be used in the year of 2000 directly after the attacks on September 11th and had been very successful for the most part with having 95% of targeted killings since 9/11 that had been completed using drones. The drones are remotely piloted in the U.S and in other secret bases around the world in allied territories. The drones are equipped with missiles and bombs and are used for killing suspected terrorists in Pakistan, Afghanistan, Yemen, Somalia, and other countries involved with the “War on Terror”. The Drones are used to help prevent boots on the ground combat which keeps soldiers from being put into missions that the drone can complete without risking a soldier's life. Although the missions are very successful in taking out high value terror targets they have killed civilians in the process of some missions which can cause the civilians that live in the middle of these places to be in terror of both sides.
I believe that the war drones should still be used for a major reason and that is to prevent the possible death of multiple American and allied military soldiers that go into ground battle with terrorists. If a drone can get the job done without risking an allied soldiers life then that should be a main reason for why they should be used. Although on an overall study found that 8-14% of people killed by the drones were in fact civilians but out of 100% that is very little to what could have been American and allied military fatalities if they had gone on the missions in a jet or on the ground. Another reason is that using drones also lowers the amount of soldiers to get post traumatic stress disorder or (PTSD) because they aren't on the ground or in a jet experiencing it all in person.
A second reason for them still to be used is the political facts because 61% out of 100% Americans supported the drones to be used in Pakistan, Yemen, and Somalia. US drone strikes help countries fight terrorist threats to their own domestic peace and stability. The war drones have contributed to a major decrease in violence as well with The 41 suicide attacks in Pakistan in 2011 were down from 49 in 2010 and a record high of 87 in 2009, which means that once they used the drones ten times more than in the past that the total suicide attacks have decreased significantly saving more civilian lives than the amount of civilian lives taken by the war drones.
A third reason is the cost of using the drones are fairly cheap compared to ground combat and manned air combat with the whole drone operation costing a total of 5.5 million dollars. The entire American drone program costs only 1% of the military's budget annually. The military's F-35 Joint Strike Fighter program alone cost the United States $9.7 billion in fiscal in the year of 2012. The manned air program costs up to six to 42 times more than the drone program making the drones a more efficient war tool. To add to it all the United States spent 2.2 trillion dollars for a decade after the attacks on 9/11 on funding ground and manned air wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Second essay is a persuasive essay on who i admire and why
Third essay is about an event that occurs that is important to me and why
The first major reason why I value Christmastime so much is because it gives me an opportunity to spend more time with my friends and my family because in most schools you're given a short break of like a week off from school. An event that occurs that is important to me is around Christmas time for the pure reason that in december it is my most favorite time of the year because it is colder and my friends and family take trips some years to go to the mountains up in the snow. Around Christmas time My family will get a Christmas tree and we would spend time decorating the tree which is nice to be able to spend time with family.
Fourth writing is about a place that is meaningful to me and why
A place that is meaningful to me is my old middle school. For very many reasons and that is where I have made friends that i’ve been with for the majority of my school life and I am still friends with them all to this today. There have been times that I disliked going to school and at the same time the majority of my middle school years were really good. Now here are some of the reasons why it is such a meaningful place to me.
One of the reasons why my old middle is such a meaningful place for me is that i’ve made so many friends from that place and I had a friendship with probably everybody in the school and they all cared for me as I did for them. I’m not saying that I have never gotten mad at anybody because I sure have but after probably right after we were all good and that’s what I liked about that place. Sadly no one I knew was going to high tech high but I still managed to make a lot of good friends at HTH anyway.
Another reason why my old middle is so important to me is because i’ve learned a lot academically and mentally as well. One of the things that was challenging was In 7th and 8th grade I had a math teacher that really didn’t like me and she kicked me out of her class every single day with a referral and she even suspended me 3 times in one year. I always had an F in her class and near the end of the year she said she was going to fail me and I would not be able to go to high school. At that moment I kind of lost hope in passing but I tried really hard and eventually in two weeks I was up to a C+ which was good for her class and I passed and promoted. The lesson that came from that was that if you try your hardest and best even though it may seem hopeless that eventually something good will come out of the hard work that you put in.

Fifth write up is to address a time that is meaningful to me and why.
A time that is important to me would be summer because it is a time to be able to not worry about school work or homework and just school related things in general. I also like that it is a time to spend time with friends and family. I think it is the best time because it allows you to do more things that you can't really do when your in school like travel and go places late at night without worrying about being tired the next day. In summer you can basically do whatever you want and that is the major reason it is such an important time for me.
One of the major reasons why summer is such an important time for me is because I can do a lot of stuff you can’t do when your in school or working such as hang out with your friends more and go out late without having to go somewhere the next day and go on trips to different places in the world or just going to visit family for long extended periods of time. Over the summer time I hang out with my friends a lot more than I do when im currently in school because I don’t have work or homework to work on.
Another reason why I like summer so much is because I can go to the beach and the pool when it's hot and also go to summer nights at the zoo when it starts. The only time I ever go to the zoo is when the summer nights event is active mostly because i'd rather go to the zoo in the nighttime when they have cool shows and some animals are more active at night. Also in the summer the del mar fair opens up and I look forward to going here with my friends and family in july every year.

Sixth Write up is addressing any school appropriate topic of my choosing
The Seventh Writing piece is to write an SAT prompt off their website in a given link.
In the article by Paul Bogard called "Let There Be Dark" published into the Los Angeles Times He is trying to prove a point that natural darkness should be preserved for many reasons many of them being for health reasons and for animals that depend on the dark to survive. He states many claims saying that we use too much artificial light at nightfall in a quote from the text he says that "When we feel the closeness of nightfall we reach quickly for the light switch."saying that there is light in the day and darkness in the night for a reason.
One of the things that he stated in the article for the Los Angeles Times that 8 out of 10 children born in the United States will never know a sky dark enough to be able to see the milky way. Since we use so many lights in the United states at the night time the only way to be able to see a clear night sky is in the desert or a low populated area because there are less areas with cities full of lights to block out the stars. The human body also needs darkness to produce a hormone called malatonin which keeps certain cancers from forming and we also need darkness to sleep because certain sleep disorders lead to many other diseases.
Another thing that Bogard stated in the article was that nocturnal animals depend on the darkness to live and to hunt. There are up to 400 species of birds that migrate at night in North America along with reptiles, Fish, and bats. Another thing mentioned in the article is that bats save American farmers millions in pest control and bats rely on the darkness to hunt because they are nocturnal along with moths that pollenate 80% of the worlds flora. Making a point saying that without darkness the earths ecology would collapse because we need the animals that use the dark to survive.
A third thing that Bogard States from the write is that Each year satellite images capture images of the United States and every year light grows 6% more meaning that we are slowly loosing our opportunity to have children born here in the city to ever be able to see a clear night sky. He believes that people over 35 are the last generation to know a real dark starry night because there are too many lights now days to be able to see a clear sky. Light pollution is an easy solution to solve Bogard says but we need to be ready to make a solution to affect it. Some cities are using LED lights which can help a good amount and even Paris the city of light turns off all of its monumental lighting after midnight.
The whole purpose of why he wrote this article for the Los Angeles Times is to address that we need to take light pollution seriously because natural darkness is slowly diminishing before us and if we do nothing to try to protect the sky so that light pollution will decrease we may never see a clear night sky again. Since light pollution increases 6% more each year Paul Bogard is trying to make us aware of this issue so that we can do something and take action to prevent light pollution so we can have the next generation of people to see and appreciate the value of natural darkness before it fades from light pollution. Even if Paris the famed city of lights turns off all of its monument lighting at midnight that if we take the same action that North America can have a natural dark sky again.
